Getting a large nail set deep into a piece of wood is difficult unless you have a nail puller. Pull the side handle back to open the pincher jaws. The handle slides up and down to force the jaws around the head of the nail. To pull the nail up pull the puller sideways against the side arm which closes the jaw and forces the nail out of the board.
