Title:
Two man crescent taper-ground saw
Catalog Number:
2002.6.1
Description:
Two man crosscut bucking saw (post saw) has a perforated lance-tooth pattern (groups of four alternately set cutters separated by an unset raker with gullets on each side) which is a general utility pattern for cutting hard and frozen wood. Note the bridges between the teeth that form the perforations giving the teeth extra strength to reduce chatter. The high quality saw blade is crescent taper ground that is also known as the "improved ground" or "segment ground." These saws require the least amount of set with the thinnest part at the back center and were considered the best of the vintage saws.
